As a society rich with a high-tech industry, and an economy with a GDP above one trillion dollars, Canada is like the market economic system of the United States and its pattern of production and construction. Since World War II, the impressive growth of manufacturing, mining and service sectors has transformed the nation from a rural economy into one primarily industrial and urban. The FTA with the United States, signed in 1989, and after the creation of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement NAFTA North American Free Trade Agreement or also known as NAFTA (for its acronym in English North American Free Trade Agreement , or NAFTA.) which includes Mexico, has been a dramatic increase in trade and greater economic integration with the United States.

The Canadians use coins and bills with a name similar to the U.S..
